Humble Quilts in the House

Lori, from Humble Quilts will be traveling to the Bellingham, WA area to teach and lecture at our local guild, Running With Scissors.  We are 10 miles north of Bellingham, in Ferndale, WA

Please come join us for a day of fun, Tuesday, MAY 12, where Lori will work through replicating a vintage quilt into a small piece.  She's going to teach us how to make 1/2 blocks for setting triangles and the zig zag setting.  I'm thrilled as I've been enamored with this type of setting lately.

Her lecture will be "Quilts through the Seasons". Anyone who has followed Lori's blog knows that she switches out her décor with quilts every season and now you will be able to see her collection up close.  Plus I asked her to bring her Beyond the Cherry Tree WIP

and the Winner is..............

Yes, tax day was give away day.  It's that time of year when those less organized, or those who just plain drag their feet  (me) are under the crunch.  Yes, I was standing in line at the USPS to get my IRS envelop date stamped on the 15th.

OK onto the fun stuff.  Random Number Generator picked #9 so the lucky winner is Mayleen from Q is for Quilt  Pop over there and see her latest finish, it's spectacular and is on my bucket list! Congratulations Mayleen, please email me your snail mail and I shall get your gift off to you next week.

There has been very little "me" stitching going on.  These stars have been hidden away in a tin for some time, and I finally pulled them out and did a little hand stitching.  I've prepped a lot of these and have no idea what they will become.  I might never know.  :-)

Not only have I been seeing stars, I feel like I've been going in circles due to this move.  With my customer quilts having priority over my own pieces, I like to always have a hand stitching project that is a take along.  Many circles have been prepped over the past few weeks, but very few have been stitched down.  Maybe today a few will make it to the top that they belong to.

Even though we have an amazing location at my guys new place, honestly, we've been too busy to even cross the street, but I'm sure next week will include a few walks out onto the tide flats.  I can see the kitchen counters and the spare bed only has 5 boxes on it now.  I couldn't see it yesterday morning.

I hope you have some time to stitch this week!

Not Enough Hours.........

I'm sure so many of you feel the same way.  We (I) have been moving my guy from 3000+ sq Ft to 1200 sq ft.  Oh yes, a lot of purging and donating has been going on around here.  The best thing was the Senior Center in town has an annual rummage sale and they took donations the week we moved.  I'm on first name basis with the ladies there now; I would pull up and they would say, "what do you have this time?".

Movers came Friday and today I could see his kitchen counter.  No boxes left to unpack in the kitchen and no empty cupboards either.  I can't say that about the spare room, but the closets are being renovated with shelving in 2 weeks.   However, today I did sneak in 30 minutes at my studio, so now the star count is 9.

These little devils are 4" finished.  Yikes!  I don't think I'll be doing round 3 of Kim Diehl's What Not's.

Here is the new view from my guys new place.  It's a ground floor condo and he is going to love it here.  It's perfect for him.  Its funny how important the tide chart has become to me!  We love to fly kites, he can anchor his HobieCat in the bay right in front of his place, and it's a one mile walk along Birch Bay to a wonderful latte.

I can't wait to get back into my studio, I have a quilt on the machine right now that is 1/3 done, and a few ideas running through my mind now that I've had a bit of a break from things.

Spring is here, the lilacs are just ready to burst out with their amazing fragrance, the tulips are just finishing up in my garden and the rhododendrons are starting to show their colors.  I love the smell in the air first thing in the morning, a fresh start to each day!

Life is good!
