I took the advice of everyone, and that meant a little bit of pressing on some parts and none on others. Background is now attached, the block has been pressed into flat submission and the center is prepped and ready to attach.
It's looking really good. The background was over cut in some parts, but I will trim it to the correct size to machine sew it into the quilt. This was all hand pieced, the easiest way, (for me) to get the result that I like. Flat, no bulky seam joins, and sharp points. I would love a whole quilt made out of this block, each one would only take about 15 hours................
Hope your first weekend of 2015 was good to you.
Happy Monday

Love this! I really want to try these myself some day.:)
*LOL* A quilt made with 15 hour blocks would be a great goal for 2015!
Looks beautiful, Sharon. I'm impressed with your hand piecing. I have made 4 Mariner's Compass blocks--all foundation pieced. I don't think my hand piecing skills are up to that!
Beautiful! 15 hours? I don't know that I could do it.
Oh Wow Sharon, it is wonderful, fussy cutting so good. But wait for me to catch up! lol You go girl!
Your block looks awesome, flat and pressed into submission. Love it.

It's beautiful! Those blocks would make a gorgeous quilt.
This piece turned out gorgeous!
Congratulations.
