Unemployment Enjoyment

**dad update**
I left Dad yesterday and we felt that there was some movement on the infection. Monday was day 6 and he was slated to continue this treatment through this week. What a PITA for him. Was so glad to be there for the daily trips to the hospital. Flash backs of my solo daily trips for radiation, so I was very lucky to be available for him at this time.

During my down time from the world of employment, I had to have a finish for myself, even if it's only a flimsy.
Here is my Sisters Choice, all finished.............sort of.
I took pictures, I laid it out, I assessed the placement of all 85 blocks..........
So how did this happen? Smack in the middle of the quilt.  This was the center seam, on the diagonal, and I didn't catch this.  But I can live with it, right? Last week I swore to Muriel that I was NOT going to fix this.
Then I noticed the next block over had almost the exact same blue print, good grief, that was enough for me to get out the seam ripper.
These "fixes" really don't take a lot of time, they are just picky and frustrating.  But I did it anyways.
The sun was shining in the window, not the best picture. But this top is now done. I've picked out a backing fabric and it's ready to hit the wash. The top is hanging up and is in line for quilting.

Info on this quilt:
100 x 100 finished
85 blocks and the center 9 patches were from an online swap
25 pieces in each block
18 different prints in each block
8 bonus triangles from the sashing on each block 1 3/4 sq. Total of 680 little blocks ready to go into another project.

This box of pre-made parts are packed and ready to go to my Gwen Marston 4 day retreat on Lopez Island. I'm leaving tomorrow.  It's my summer vacation, my last blast of time off for the next 5 months. I start my new job on Monday!

If it bothered you - then you did the right thing to rip those blocks.

I didn't mean to laugh, but I couldn't help myself. putting those "like" blocks so close together is probably something I would do and not notice it until it was sewn. I would have picked them out, too. It is a very pretty quilt and I am glad you got a finish for yourself. You are going to have soooo much fun at Gwen's retreat. Glad to hear your dad is on the mend and that you will be starting your new job, too.

Great finish--Good for you for fixing what bothered you. Even though some people think it is too picky, if I'm not happy with it, it will stay in a closet forever and never get finished.

What a great quilt - and kudos to you for changing the placement of those blocks. I would have left them, but then it would have probably bothered me every time I looked at it! Have a great time at your retreat! Can't wait to see what you work on. And congrats on your new job! So great that you could be there for your dad - hope he continues to see progress.
