Customer Quilts

I've been waiting to show these quilts. As usual, you can "biggie" the pictures by clicking on them.
How fun are the chickens! Love all the farm themed blocks and the fabrics in this are perfect for the theme.

A great scrappy quilt, I love the golden crosses all feathered like this.  This is the second one by Mona, I just love all the fabrics she uses.

The embroidery piece is a pattern from Crabapple Hill, but look at the close ups.  Stacey went above and beyond with her stitching, these are a fabulous interpretation of the original pattern.

Too cute for words!  Stacey went the extra mile on all these blocks, and it shows.  Fabulous job. 

 Slow and steady wins the race with blocks like these, S said she worked on it for about 2 years, it was worth every minute. Hmmm, I wonder what she's stitching now?

Sew Day Showoff

I couldn't miss the opportunity to share what my fellow guild members are currently working on.
Tracey's Selvage wall hanging, LOVE the red.

This quilter is using hand me down fabrics, I'd like someone to hand me down brights like these!

Hallow'een is coming, but I don't know if Diane will be ready.  Maybe next year.  These Crabapple Hill patterns are a labor of love, this is the witchy boot!

Several ladies are working on this BOM put on by one of our LQS, 2 Thimbles.  This shop specializes in CW repros,

These are tiny blocks, and no, I did not slide down the vortex of this BOM.

See how tiny some of the pieces are?  Resist, resist, I repeated!

Tonya had this amazing Batik house going on, as well as several other projects. 

Tracey was also working on her Surrounded pattern, she rocked it with the red mixed into the brown and cream.  Kind of like the chocolate chips in amongst the cookie dough!

And yet ANOTHER project that Tracey got finished.  This center panel is so cute.  She took it home to machine quilt and gift out.

This Lonestar was started during a Judy Irish workshop. She came up and did a very exciting class and then gave an amazing trunk show presentation. Today this was going under the needle to get machine quilted.

I tried to get a better shot of Donna's Heart Blocks, but my camera ran out of juice.  Trust me that they are very cute and I can't wait to see how she sets them.

What a fantastic day with a room full of creative, energetic, positive women.  I wish I could have stayed until the end, but another group of friends came calling. Isn't it great when you have too many things to do with friends and not enough time?

Wasted Opportunity

I had such high hopes for my sewing Saturday. Many moments of preparation, trying to pack the smallest amount of things, and getting all organized. Since a sew day involves a lot of socializing, chatting, eating and general fun, I wanted a project that didn't require a lot of pieces or complex piecing.

One would think a 9 patch would fill that category, right?  Not so much!

And I was so confident, I didn't even bring a seam ripper.  When I finally realized what I had done, I packed it all away, and decided the unsewing would be a good tv project.

Now to find some time to get these blocks sewn into the right place!

Girlfriend Time

I had a get away weekend with my gal pal who I've known since 1970. We both turned 50 this year and wanted a little R & R so we chose to go to Whistler, BC The drive up was a little over 2 hours. We hit the Irish pub for lunch while we watched the rain absolutely soak the village and waited for our room to be ready.
It was impressive to see the legacy of the Vancouver 2010 Winter Olympics

 On Saturday we took the lift up to the top of the mountain....

.the view when you step out of the building.

This guy greets you as you enter the lodge on the top of the mountain.  Pretty fun to walk around and see all the countries listed on his pants.

One of my favorite shots of the day.  This is what it felt like up there.

We couldn't miss the #1 photo op at the top of the mountain.

.................and then we took another lift that took us from peak to peak.  Pretty amazing view.

It's pretty hard to show the span, but let's just say, it's not for someone who has a fear of heights :-)

We relaxed, ate a little too much, walked all around the village and just relaxed and enjoyed the weekend.  After being there for a few hours, I decided we needed to do this a little more often.   It's far enough away to be away, and yet so close that the travel time doesn't eat into your time away.

Here Kitty, Kitty

This is all Karens fault. I'm not making any more blocks (yet!), because I have a great Hallow'een quilt already. Don't you think these will make great pillows? Maybe do Courthouse Steps around the block? I've had this book, Redwagon Originals, for a long time, and every so often I pull out a book from the case just to flip through for inspiration or to look at the pieces in the book. This was the book I pulled out last week!

Speaking of cats, just look at the commotion that Miss Molly caused in the household last week. She spooks easily and the dog made a sudden move, which promted the cat to take off. She hits the laminate floor and slides. I hear a crash, and thought it was a box of glasses knocked off a little table in the corner of the eating area. Not so much! Notice the leg that is NOT attached anymore.

She came flying back out of the room, I don't think she touched 2 of the 7 steps to get upstairs and she was gone! Thank goodness this didn't land on her!

That's all the excitement from my corner of the world. I have been machine quilting for customers with a time crunch. So along with fall yard work, (my $14 fall planter)

a day job and the 2 four legged kids, this is keeping me very busy. I shall breathe after the current piece on my machine is finished.

In The Pink

Yup, it's October already and along with all the beautiful fall colors, we are inundated with Pink. It's breast cancer awareness month. Don't become immune to all the "pink". Get your mammogram, but DO YOUR SELF EXAM. That saved my life. I found the lump 3 months after a mammo and physical, one of the 10% - 20% where the lump did not show up on the mammo.
