Girls Getaway

I'm having issues with blogger on this post, so things are running together....Last weekend was our annual Girls Getaway to the Gorge. It was 4 days all about friendship, quilting, food and wine. We spent 3 nights at the Gorge in OR, and during the days we enjoyed the Columbia River Quilt Show at Stevenson Fair grounds. I taught an applique class and Muriel taught a table runner class. Paula and Norma took classes and volunteered at the show. As usual, you can click on the photos for more details. It was a fabulous group of quilts that hung in this judged show, I tried to get all the ribbon winners, sorry if I missed some!

Barb Shapel, Mixed Technique First Place Front View
Barb Shapel Back view.
Mixed Technique Second Place

This was entered in the Mixed category as all the stack and whack motifs were appliqued.

First place in large category.  Lovely quilt.

 Second in the large pieced.

Large quilts, third place

Mary Arnold of Vancouver, WA  Best of Show.....no kidding!

All hand quilted.  This has been a work in progress for many years, and I'm glad the quilter showed this piece.  I spent some time enjoying this piece.  Excellent choices of quilting motifs.

I loved this one too. The quilting design was excellent for the piecing.  Very well done.

Mary Arnold, First place in Applique

My Christmas banner, Second in Applique.  whoohoo!

Here are the winners in the Small Catagory, very cute!

 Innovative First place  Very creative.
Innovative Second Place
Innovative Third Place

 Paula's beautiful Churn Dash.
Nancy Goldsworthy from 9 Patch Quilting.
 Norma's beautiful quilt.
I thought this stack and whack was fabulous.  The quilting on the borders was very interesting.  A great choice of design.

The Columbia Gorge Quilters raised just over $1000 on this quilt.  The monies will be split up between the local hospitals to help fund mammograms for local women.  It is a beautiful quilt and it was a guild member who won this.

I thought this Jacobs Ladder was very well done.  Their piecing was wonderful on this quilt.  One of my favorites of this show.

What a wonderful treat to see the photos of ther quilts from the show. I think I would have studied the Amish style one for awhile too. There were a lot of beauties in this group.

What a high standard in the quilts you've shown. This must be a very gifted group. Congratulations to all concerned and thanks for showing.
